therealamberrose asked: Hey, i been trying to get a ferret for the longest now, but everyone keeps bringing up the smell and what not.. honestly, what do ferrets ACTUALLY smell like? lol

Answer:

ferrets themselves have a unique faint leathery smell to them. What smells the most though are the things your ferret uses. Such as thing as they sleep in (which is alot). If not washed regularly, the smell gets a bit much. BUT if you clean their cage once a week, change the litter everyday, and make sure to wash the things your ferret touches regularly, then this smell wont be a problem. I personally love the way my ferret smells. However the other smells can get bad if neglected, haha.

  2. ferrets said: I agree aswell. You also don’t really notice it after a while either. People come over and be like “your house smells like a ferret” and i just look around and go “really..? oh” it smells comforting to me. No one ever complains though!
